The proposed reclassification of cannabis as a narcotic was met with protests from marijuana users, business operators, and medical cannabis patients at Pattaya City Hall in Chonburi on June 26.

Protesters filed a petition against the reclassification, calling for action to be taken collectively with all parties involved to Pol. Maj. Col. On behalf of local authorities, Jeerawat Sukonthasap, Administrative Director of the Pattaya City Permanent Secretary’s Office, accepted it. The central government will be informed of the petition through appropriate channels.

Additionally, campaigners unveiled the Chonburi Medical and Economic Cannabis Business Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to society.

The group aims to advise law-abiding cannabis businesses, such as shops and dispensaries, and promote standardization of licensing in line with extensive legal regulations in Chonburi and nearby regions.

Furthermore, They were dedicated to educating the public about how cannabis can be used for medical purposes, using traditional Thai medicine and principles of care.
