Two Vietnamese nationals were filmed on June 25 attacking a man outside a street food restaurant on South Pattaya Road.
The brutal beating was stopped by a local reporter who witnessed and recorded it.
The victim, Xuan Hai Ngo, 38, was a Vietnamese national and suffered cuts, bruises, and a bleeding wound at the back of his head. Pattaya police rushed to the scene and tried to apprehend the suspects near Big C shopping centre, South Pattaya.
Two fellow Vietnamese men, described as slim and tall, with distinct clothing—a yellow shirt and shorts paired with shirts and pants—managed to escape near the shopping centre’s parking area. Following an extensive search effort, the suspects managed to escape the police. Law enforcement officials are partnering with nearby stations to find the suspects.
An interpreter who was interviewed with Ngo stated that the dispute began at a debt settlement meeting with his attackers, which then escalated into rioting on the street. The attackers, who arrived in a grey Ford Raptor pick-up, brought along knives, metal rods and wooden sticks that were taken for investigation by police.
Ngo was treated at Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital for his injuries. Law enforcement officials are still on the lookout for the Vietnamese gang involved to hold them accountable quickly.’
