Two men on a motorcycle threatened 29-year-old Zuzanna with a gun, but passers-by foiled the robbery.

On 6 June 2025, in the city of Udon Thani (Thailand), an attempted armed robbery of a 29-year-old Polish citizen working as an English teacher was foiled. Thanks to the timely intervention of passers-by, the crime was not committed.

The incident occurred in the evening on Nong Prajak Street when the girl, who introduced herself as Zuzanna, was returning home. Two people on a red Honda Scoopy motorcycle approached her — a man and a woman aged approximately 25–30. Threatening her with an object resembling a black pistol, they tried to force her to transfer money via mobile banking.

The female robber demanded that Zuzanna hand over her belongings. After making sure that there was nothing valuable in her bag, she threatened her with a weapon and tried to take her mobile phone to force her to make a money transfer.

Fortunately, the criminals did not succeed in carrying out their criminal plan. Two passers-by witnessed the incident and intervened: 27-year-old Veruka Phothedit, who works part-time as an instructor at Udon Thani Professional College, and 23-year-old Joseph, who has British roots. Frightened, the robbers fled on a motorcycle.

At 9:30 p.m. local time, Deputy Inspector Lieutenant Colonel Somhop Khaijai of the Udon Thani City Police Station, having received a report of the incident via a mobile app, arrived at the scene with tourist police officers.

The police are examining CCTV footage from cameras located along the suspected escape routes of the criminals. However, as of 9 June, the suspects remain at large. The investigation is ongoing. The Udon Thani police are asking anyone with information about the incident to report it to the nearest police station.
