A Russian man in a state of severe alcohol intoxication caused an accident, ramming a motorbike into a passenger car, killing a Thai national
A Russian man in a state of severe alcohol intoxication behind the wheel of a passenger car in Pattaya provoked a serious road accident, colliding with a motorbike, as a result of which one person was killed and one seriously injured.
The incident occurred on Sukhumvit Street near the traffic lights in South Pattaya when the driver, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, drove a passenger car down the road in violation of traffic laws and speed limits.
Local rescue services immediately arrived on the scene following a call from eyewitnesses to the accident and found the front of the car badly damaged. The driver, a 40-year-old Russian citizen named Roman, showed signs of severe intoxication.
Nearby lay a wrecked motorbike with two severely bleeding Thai nationals, 28-year-old Mukchari and Boonpop. Channel Seven reported that medics administered immediate first aid and transported both victims to a nearby hospital.
Witnesses to the accident, including 40-year-old Somsak, said the foreign driver was speeding and hit the motorbike from behind. The collision was so violent that the motorbike riders flew apart, sustaining severe injuries. Somsak quickly contacted the local emergency services, which arrived within minutes.
Local police also responded, documenting the scene and collecting evidence, including photographs and witness statements. Police intend to review CCTV footage from nearby cameras to get a complete picture of the events leading up to the accident. Alcohol and drug tests are to be conducted to determine the driver’s level of intoxication at the time of the crash.
Sadly, Mukchari died of her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, and Boonpop remains in critical condition. Pattaya authorities are coordinating with the victim’s family to prepare funeral arrangements. The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
In addition, four Royal Thai Navy officers from the Sattahip Naval Base Special Affairs Unit rushed to aid victims of a motorbike and bus collision in Chonburi. The officers, who were on routine patrol near a local market, rushed to the aid of a 48-year-old Thai man who was trapped by a bus in the middle of the road.
