The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects to welcome 27 million tourists to Pattaya in 2024, 4 million more than in 2023.
According to the Bangkok Post, the Pattaya office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand aims to attract 27 million visitors to the resort city in 2024.
The goal is not as ambitious as it sounds, as the number of tourists visiting Pattaya in 2023 reaches the target of 23 million, according to Urai Mukpradapthong, head of the Tourism Authority’s Pattaya office.
Pattaya attracted many domestic and international tourists in the last quarter of 2023. The visa waiver scheme played a minor role in this upturn,” Ms Urai said.
The seaside resort town has maintained its reputation as one of Thailand’s most popular tourist destinations due to the variety of attractions on offer, including integrated sports facilities and convention centres.
With the support of the Chonburi Provincial Administration, the City of Pattaya regularly organises events and activities to promote tourism. The city also participates in road shows and trade exhibitions in several countries in Europe and the Middle East.
Capable of accommodating a large number of visitors, Pattaya has more than 70,000 rooms in three to five-star hotels. The top five countries providing Pattaya with foreign visitors in 2023 are Russia, India, China, South Korea and Vietnam,” Urai said.
With the success of last year and well-planned promotional campaigns that will begin this year, Pattaya expects to welcome up to 27 million tourists in 2024,” added the head of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya office.
More than 28 million foreigners visited Thailand in 2023, bringing more than a trillion baht to the country, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. From 1 January to 31 December, 28’042’131 foreigners arrived in the country and spent 1.2 trillion baht in Thailand, Tourism and Sports Minister Sudawan Wangsupkhakijkosol said.
The top five nationalities visiting Thailand in 2023 were Malaysians (4.56 million), Chinese (3.51 million), South Koreans (1.65 million), Indians (1.62 million) and Russians (1.48 million).
