28-year-old California tourist found dead near Koran Beach bridge in Phuket, investigation underway into cause of tragedy.
The body of an American tourist has been found on Patong Beach in Phuket. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death. The body of the 28-year-old man, who arrived from California, was found at about 1:30 p.m. local time near the Koran Beach bridge, located at the southern end of Patong Beach.
The Patong Police Chief, Colonel Chalermchai Hirasawat, investigators, and rescuers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation immediately arrived at the scene. The task force was formed after receiving a report from the Patong Police Radio Center.
A friend of the deceased identified the body at the scene. The body was later taken to Patong Hospital, where forensic experts will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Police are currently refraining from commenting on the drowning theory as the cause of death. Police said they were coordinating with the US Embassy regarding the incident. The name of the deceased is being withheld until next of kin are officially notified. The circumstances of the tragedy are being investigated.
